Scynthia McNabb Syfrett, Workers’ Compensation Department Manager for Sharp Healthcare, recently claimed the newest seat among the CCWC Board of Directors. She was elected at the June 7 Board meeting.
Scynthia began in the workers’ compensation insurance industry in 1989. Over the course of nearly 35 years, she has been an adjuster, team leader, supervisor, mentor, account executive for both public and private industries, and claims manager.
A graduate of University of Arizona with a degree in Business Leadership and Business Management, Scynthia has been a longtime CCWC member and is looking forward to joining the Board for the first time.
CCWC’s Board of Directors is responsible for managing the affairs of the organization, including setting policies and directing staff. Directors are eligible for re-election at the board meeting closest to the expiration of that two-year term. The board meets face-to-face on a quarterly basis, with the June meeting taking place during the CCWC Annual Conference.
Why did you want to join the CCWC Board?
Scynthia: To be able to be involved in a diverse group of knowledgeable experts motivated to enhance and transform our workers compensation community with common sense solutions for the better of all.
What are your goals as a new Board Member?
Scynthia: To join in open discussions and help on recruiting new members, encouraging others to participate in improving our systems or operations, learn and develop from the experienced board members and community I am honored to engage with.
Why is CCWC membership so important?
Scynthia: Change is the one constant we can count on in life and it is important to ensure that when changes are made, they are changes we support. We often can't make changes by ourselves, and that's where being part of a community comes in. Being a member of CCWC allows us to use a collective voice. A robust membership increases our legislative impact. Additionally, through our membership, CCWC offers education and networking that enable the shared goals of our members.
